Desi Anwar

Desi Anwar is a prominent Senior Anchor, TV Journalist, Writer, Photographer and Media & Communications specialist based in Jakarta, Indonesia. Currently she is with CNN Indonesia as Director and Senior Anchor, hosting a regular hour-long primetime talkshow Insight with Desi Anwar, interviewing prominent newsmakers both national and international on a variety of current issues. 

Previously, Desi hosted Face 2 Face with Desi Anwar, (first aired in 2010) on Metro TV, a programme where she interviews prominent figures and personalities around the world. Her guests include: HH the Dalai Lama, Entrepreneur Richard Branson, Hollywood star Richard Gere, Musician Kitaro, Financier George Soros, IMF Chief Christine Lagarde, Author Karen Armstrong, and many heads of states and other influential international figures. She also hosted a weekly talkshow TeaTime with Desi Anwar on Metro TV, featuring leaders, inspiring figures and personalities from Indonesia. 

Desi has published several books featuring her photography and philosophical musings both in English and Indonesian: A Romantic Journey, Tweets for Life: 200 wisdoms for a happy, healthy and balanced life, and A Simple Life/Hidup Sederhana currently in its third reprint. Desi is an award winning TV Anchor and recipient of an Honorary Fellows from SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies, the University of London) for her contribution to the growth of the Media in South East Asia. She is also the recipient of Number One Press Holder from the Indonesian Journalist Association (2010) and awarded Senior Journalist (Wartawan Utama) status from the Indonesian Press Council (2011) Desi Anwar was also a regular columnist for the news magazine Tempo and the English daily The Jakarta Globe. She is a keen traveler and photographer and has traveled to many parts of the world both on assignments and as a hobby throughout her life and career.
